You can't take two steps down 125th in Harlem without being offered something. Designer jeans and shades to your left, on your right, books and religious DVD's. Employees of the shops that line the street hang in the doorways with claims of up to 50% off.
The slow procession up the street is only broken by the hate-filled rhetoric of the Black Hebrew Israelites. You can hear their shouts hundreds of feet away, inciting anger in pedestrians and once in a while they'll scuffle with someone who challenges them. But it's a beautiful day and a beautiful sight to see so many Black folks enjoying the culture of 125th St. as the sign of the World famous Apollo theatre keeps watch over all.
