Coming up, I was amazed by Salt, Pepa, Queen Latifah, Monie Love and mostly, MC Lyte. That feeling dissipated for a while until Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown and then Eve exploded on the scene. The fascination I’ve had through the years with female emcees had lain dormant until I heard this voice while watching the BET Hip-Hop Awards, so I took a trip to Brooklyn, NY to learn more about Nitty Scott, MC. It had been quite some time since I heard a female emcee with her skill set, dexterity, and commitment to uplifting the culture, so I needed the 411 about her, the Boombox Family, and what was to come.
