So, the grills are firing up, people are packing up their cars, mischevious kids are plotting how to scare the piss out of people with firecrackers, white women are ready to lay out and get tans and I'm wondering, for what? The 4th of July has to be my least favorite "holiday" of all. I guess I'm reading too much into what it's supposed to mean as opposed to what it is. Who's independence are we really celebrating or are we just looking for a reason to party? You know black folks don't need much reason at all. Getting married? Cookout! Got divorced? Cookout! Having a baby? Cookout! Graduating kindergarten? Cookout! Going to jail? Big a** cookout!
