Shut The F#$% Up!

Across the county and around the world, people are talking, not just talking, gossiping! At the water cooler, on the phone, via e-mail or instant messager someone is running off at the mouth about a co-worker, a friend or even worse, a celebrity. Radio star Wendy Williams has turned the art of gossip into riches, she's spread the dish on celebrities for nearly 20 years and has landed her in hot water with her employers and the celebrities she talks about, but a special place in the heart of her listeners.

Why do we feel the need to be let inside of the lives of the rich & famous? We spend money on their talents, but does that entail us to know the ins and outs of their lives? Some of you will say yes, but check this scenario; your job pays your salary, does that entitle your supervisor to know that you got a pissy drunk in the club on Saturday and had a one-night stand with no protection? No, right? Well, what makes it so different, the amount of money and status involved? Because I spend $85 on a ticket to see Jay-Z concert, do I need to know what's really going on with him & Beyonce?
No less than twenty minutes after the ink dried on divorce papers filed by Eddie Murphy's soon to be ex-wife, there were rumors being circulated about a supposed relationship with he & Johnny Gill and in a larger sense a large network of male celebs who are on the Down Low. Does it matter to me if Eddie Murphy likes a little sausage in his diet, hell no! I know the nigga needs to make better movies!
Bobby & Whitney, are another staple in the gossip circles, not without merit though, those idiots stay doing things to validate everything that is said about them, at least we can't say that they're not truly in love or the marriage is a farce to cover up Whitney's sexuality.
Karrine Steffens has turned her own personal gossip into a cash cow. See, you may not know her by her government name, but the name "Superhead" sets bells off right? She wrote a book, "Confessions of a Video Vixen" based on her trysts with popular recording stars and athletes. The book sold like crack on the 1st!!! Over 250,000 copies top date and a spot on the New York Times bestseller list. For what, detailing her sex life, even more, her sex life with famous men. The public ate that shit up! Nevermind the fact that she came off as a groupie and a whore, it revealed intimate details that people have been craving about a few of their favorite celebrities for years and made her a star in the process. She's been on the cover of a few magazines, sold a shitload of books, radio & TV pub and the key to it all, a white man. She's now involved with Bill Maher from HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher".
The paparazzi constantly stalks the highest profile of celebrities, there doesn't seem like a moment, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt or Paris Hilton are out of the camera's lens. I can imagine it's good press to stay in the limelight, but at some point, don't you think Brad just wants to go to Target and buy toothpaste without being hunted by a bunch of camera toting freaks. We treat our famous like Gods and then wonder how or why they act like they're above us at certain times? Simple, if we stop caring, they will find how important the public is to their fortune and fame.
"Loose lips sink ships" the saying goes, but that seems so foreign now, people run off at the mouth anywhere, about anything. Church folks ain't nobody, talking about the Preacher and his new car, Ms. Nellie hustling the Social Security folks. Everyone just needs to shut the hell up and mind their own business! Someone right now is probably saying something about me, I don't give a damn either, just say my name right!
